Why do academic types (professors & sometimes Ivy League undergrads) wear bow ties, but people in business NEVER do?
If I wore a bow tie to a job interview with any company, id be screwed

What if you wore a bow tie to an interview with a law firm in the deep south? I bet you'd be fine.

Bow ties are seen as more social classy as opposed to business classy. Ties are usually the go to for interviews because your want to appear as a member of the business community. However at social galas etc Bow ties are much more prevalent, and are a key component of tuxedos(typically warn to classy social outings such as "weddings, awards ceremonies, dances, etc)
Because you can't be taken serious with a bowtie
