Small detail left out. This is a guy who is already fit. running less than 10 miles per week for what, three weeks?
I admit I didn't watch or listen to the video, and have no interest in doing that.
But, let's say you are a 2:28 marathoner, in pretty good shape. you decide to back off from your typical 100/90 mile weeks, and run 10 miles per week for two or three weeks. Did you lose much? Maybe. Add in the hidden fact that you are doing probably elliptical, bike on roads, and maybe lifting hard to get winded. All in all, you might have lost about 25-30% of your aerobic capacity. Still, you are a sub 3 hr marathoner, easily.
I remember hearing a 2:16 marathoner once say after he said he was coming off a pulled hamstring and didn't run for over 6 weeks that he was very confident he could run a 2:40 that day if needed.
As my old coach used to say "when you are fit, you're fit!"
results are here he ran a 2.50 check out his name go vegan!
i was there and watched this and can vouch he is for real!
I ran a 2:40 with around 40mpw. But I supplemented with 2-4 bike rides per week. This carries over to some extend, for sure. Would I have been able to run that time on that mileage without cycling? No way. Why did I do it? Because I enjoy riding the bike and like to mix things up.
I also ran a Marathon on ~15mpw without any cycling. Result was a 3:15 (and the 2nd half hurt badly).
Also, eating 800g of carbs per day is the fast track towards diabetes and heart disease...but that's another story.
I don't doubt Harley did this on so few miles. He has been a very high mileage cyclist for years so his engine will be right up there. It doesn't change the fact that he is a complete nutjob though. At least he is decent enough in the video to admit that his legs were trashed in the closing miles and he knows that this was due to lack of running miles.
He is very annoying. I thinks he smokes the herb a lot too.
He is a good cyclist but he does talk a lot of bollocks to get attention. His marathon is legit, he has very low bodyfat and good endurance from cycling. If he did decent running mileage he would be under 2.30

Carbohydrates don't cause diabetes. diabetes is caused by an overload of dietary fat which attaches to insulin receptors in cells and blocks sugar from entering cells, therefore causing an overload of sugar in the blood.
heart disease is caused by an excess of dietary fat clogging arteries and damaging the endothelial linning.
Carbs get a bad rap but if we all at a high carb, low fat, diet rich in fruits and vegetables we would be a lot healthier.
So I'll take that as a No, no-one knows of any better than around 10 MPW a week, year round for a 2:50 marathon.
