RE: Walmart gives jobs to people who don't deserve them and put in no effort at all. Liberals should be singing its praises.

You CAN live off what Wal-Mart pays. Easily, if you're selective about your purchases. Our politicians decided that everyone needs to have the money to live comfortably. That's a whole different matter.

So what besides money keeps someone from going to community college? I would really like to know a good answer to this one. Oh, not being cut out for college isn't an acceptable answer. Lots of people don't want to go to HS but stay because they realize the alternatives. So you hate college? Suck it the eff up! You want a better life? Work for it. Don't expect someone to hand it to you. How much money you make for an honest week of work should depend on your skill level and what you do. I am sorry, if you work a 40 hour a week job at McDonalds, you can live off of your wages. If you can't, work to get a better paying job. Don't just expect people to give you things you don't earn. The working world is not your parents.

Again, Walmart competes on price, not customer service.

This translates to, "We don't spend extra money hiring good employees because we know we are going to be competitive and profitable because of our prices. Our prices will keep us in business. The masses of Americans would rather save money than have a good experience with the Walmart employees. So why would we waste the money on the employees".

* Lower Aptitude

* Learning disabilities

* Lack of educational opportunity in grades K-12 (bad schools)

These are just a few of the things that might make you "not cut out for college." The majority of Americans fall into this category.

That's 15K per year before taxes. If you think that pays for an American standard of living you are delusional. In many places that won't even pay the rent. They must have assistance from somewhere, especially if they have dependents.

And they pay 0 in taxes... No place where rent is greater than 15k has a Walmart nearby. They're basically nonexistent in urban areas. And Walmart employees can feed themselves comfortably at the store (with a discount after 90 days) for less than $75 a week. They get assistance because it was decided they were entitled to it. Not that that's a bad thing, but don't be mad at Walmart for offering minimum wages in exchange for minimum skill. A job is a job, and I'm grateful it was my first.

NO family obligations can keep someone from college if they really wanted to go...especially community college.

People with lower intelligence, lower aptitude and learning disabilities graduate community college all the time. People who go to crappy HS's go to community college all the time. It is over run with them. In fact, if you go to a community college you will see people from all over the spectrum with hardships. They find a way to overcome them.

A single person can live on 15k a year with no debt from college. People don't have to live in houses by themselves. If someone working at McDonalds can't afford to live by themselves because rent would be 1K/month, they need to get a roommate or 2.

WalMart didn't ask their employees to have kids. Dependents are not WalMarts responsibilities. WalMart is not obligated to reward people for having low ambition.

I realize that you are very proud of how you went to college and made something of yourself. That's great. But it's not an option for everyone.

Again, I shouldn't have to subsidize WalMart so that its employees can have a decent standard of living. WalMart makes sure they are signed up for Medicaid and Food Stamps so that they can show up for work each day. They should be paid a wage that gets them off those programs and out of my pocketbook.

A lot of people vilify the poor just so they will have someone to look down on. I suspect that's the root of the whole, "Those poor people deserve it." mentality.

Wrong, my teeny-bopper friend. The poor still pay Social Security tax, Medicare tax, and state tax. Plus they pay sales taxes and other local taxes.

As a percentage of income, they pay about the same in taxes as super-rich guys like Mitt Romney.

But there are plenty of similar minimum wage jobs in those areas. That's really what we're talking about here.

WalMart could do a lot more on its own. But true enough, the low minimum wage itself is the true culprit.

I didn't go to community college. I have a BS and Masters though. Nice try to make me look stupid but only shows you are the idiot. I know people who do and have gone to community college. My brother used to teach at one.

There is no family obligation under the sun that can stop someone from taking 1 class a day at least. Not one. If these people can work any job, they can make it to a class.

My sister in law used to work at WalMart. She got a job with better pay so she left. They didn't tell her to go on food stamps or to get Medicaid. That is absurd.

Democrats like to make people need the government so they are extremely suppressive of the poor. They are the ones who look down on the poor. WalMart pays at least the minimum wage. They have no legal or moral obligation to pay more. Walmart paying their employees more would not improve your finances one bit because these unskilled laborers would unemployed if walmart paid more and attracted a better class of workers. Your name is a lie. Of course they pay taxes, rent in places near Walmart are going to sometimes be greater than their 15k income can afford them, and they most certainly are existent in urban areas.

Dude, get a grip. Someone who is working fast food as an adult wants to work fast food as an adult because it is a chill easy job they need no ambition to qualify for. I'm not saying you don't have an education. I'm saying that in this instance, you haven't used it. Your false statements about fast food workers and the minimum wage proves my point. I hope that you will take the time to become better informed on the issue. We all need a deeper understanding.

BS. They want to make it LOOK like they are trying. They probably do deep down want respect for the work they do but don't want to take the steps it takes to get a better job. I have made no false statements about fast food workers.

Millions of people have made their way out of fast food restaurants into better jobs. The only difference for the ones that don't make it out that actually want out is lack of effort. And those that don't want out can't expect to be paid what an LPN with a 2 year degree makes. Ridiculous.
