OK, I've got a marathon in October. I'm a bit behind where I'd like to be, but I'm averaging 30 mpw overall for the year.
But lately I've been dealing with a few lingering issues.
1) Abdominal strain. This seems to have been aggravated after racing a 400 all-out about 2 weeks ago. I have mild abdominal discomfort while running... the faster I run, the worse it gets. I've seen a doctor and he didn't think it was a big deal, but it's starting to piss me off. I just raced a half marathon, and I probably left 1-2 minutes on the course because I was uncomfortable the whole time and worried about pushing hard.
2) Sore foot. After a 10-miler this past Sunday, my left foot felt sore and almost bruised along the inside arch. I can run on it, but it tends to ache a bit afterward.
I desperately need to start running 40 and 50 mile weeks, but I also want these nagging injuries to heal. Is it better to just plow through them, or take some time off to recover?
