If you were to run a Marathon and it starts with a steep downhill do you push the downhill and run below your Marathon Pace or do you "stay within yourself" and just keep your Marathon Pace regardless??

I wouldn't do such a race. But for you I suggest you run that downhill very easy to avoid very sore legs later in the race.
downhill races are f'ing stupid.

It is only downhill for like 1mile in the start, just didn't know if I should push below 7 min miles or just stick to my game plan of 7:05 min miles, thx
One mile at the start is enough to mess up your whole race if you go just a few seconds too quick. Take it easy and ease your way down that hill, gradually speeding up to 7 min/mile pace. You will feel much better for it later.
Ignore everyone else. Be the smartest runner in the race and pass loads of ruuners who went off too quick later in the race.
How would this relate to the boston course which may not be steep but is downhill 1st half. Never run it but planning to in 2015 and thinking about pacing strategies.

Don't move to Utah, they're all the rage here!

Thanks, great advice. I will stick with that plan. I thought maybe if I went out fast on that downhill I could shave overall time. But I suspect that I would just regret it towards the end of the race and bonk.
I'll stick with my plan. Thanks.
It's all about effort. Take it easy, you are just warming up that first mile.

Thanks, I'll do that I'll just take it easy that first few miles to warm up to settle in.
