I had a disaster 10k mate. I had to drop out and it's the first race I've ever done that. I say in with a fast group and hit the 1st mile in 5.07, the 2nd mile in 5.10, the 3rd mile in 5.20 then coming up to mile 4 my calf started to cramp and I generally felt horrible. Really disappointed with myself and confidence is down.
My plan was to run the 1st 2 miles at 5.20 pace then start winding it up but I didn't stick to it and ruined the race for myself. Need to just move on and focus on this 5k on the 28th. Hopefully if I get a quality 5k session in on Wed and a good parkrun on Sat I'll get a bit of confidence back. Calf is a bit tight today but it's not an injury. I probably could have ran through it yesterday but I felt seriously rubbish and it just wasn't to be. It's frustrating as I've been training well and even tapered for this race (and slept/ate well all week)! :(
