Yes, I love the crowd that insists that if the rule doesn't meet their needs, its wrong and everyone else is intellectually inferior because they don't want to follow it, want it changed immediately because they say so and don't want to pay the penalty in the meantime.
I totally agree that the rule could/should be changed. Makes no difference to about 99% or more of the athletes involved. I too have a swimmer being coached year round by an Olympian and only participates in hs swimming to be with her friends. However, we are fully aware of the rules and make no attempt to circumvent them when we don't always agree with them. We also wouldn't lie and think we could get by with it later either. I really don't think anyone here would intentionally cheat in this manner either. I was called a blowhard earlier but its not true. The truth is many come to these message boards to express their opinions but won take the steps necessary in reality to make a real difference. I sit on advisory committees to the board of control and take the concerns of many each year. This will definitely be a hot topic this year and change is possible but not without going through the proper channels and processes. Someday, when some of you are in a position to help create policy for the betterment of the whole and the institution, you might start to understand the reality of how things work. In the meantime, you Will follow the rules or suffer the consequences regardless whether you agree with them or not.
