Llano should ask Malmo about how that low 61 equates to a 2:08. But best of luck to the guy.
Neither George nor Matt have run low 1:01, although both have run 1:01, with 1:01:43 for George and 1:01:47 for Matt.

I imagine he'd rather ask Kawauchi

Keep in mind, you're comparing his 61:XX half marathons to guys who have run a ton faster than him in the shorter stuff. A fast half marathon with moderately fast 5k/10k times can very well point to a great marathon.

Did Salazar run faster than 61:47 for a half?
Salazar has a 13:11 5,000 PR and a 27:25 10,000 PR so it is safe to say that Salazar had better wheels than Llano currently does.

Well, that is not what I am doing, really. I simply corrected that dude who thought that 1:01:43 was "low 61."

I watched him win the '09 Annapolis 10 Miler in 49:4x at age 21. Smooth & light in a pair of Nike Frees. He has the stride for it.

How good do they have to have been? I mean there was a guy on my college team that ran like low 14s and was gayer than a French horn.
wouldn't Renato say that IF TRAINED PROPERLY, a 1:01 guy should be a shoe-in for sub-2:10?

I say there is no way in hell he breaks 2:12.
61 for a half is nowhere near 2:08 for the marathon
Really? What was Bob Kempainen's best half time? I doubt it was better than 61

He'd probably say 2:07.

Derrick Peterson? Maybe you don't consider the 800m a "distance runner" though.

Did Salazar run faster than 61:47 for a half? Of course, we have a lot of current 61 guys and just three 2:08 guys.
Salazar ran in an era where the half marathon distance was virtually never ran. It was not popular like it is today. He did run 28:02-ish in road 10k's a couple times.
Additionally, I think that a 61 flat half marathon could translate into a 2:08 low effort. Look at Geb. 58:55 half, 2:03:59 full. Add six minutes to double your half PR and you will be in the general range for the full 'thon.

"Openly" and "that we know of" are redundant.
His website is kind of annoying. It's nothing more than a brag site for himself.

That's really creepy
There are many things that are "openly" acknowledged but that "we don't know of."For example, it is apparent (openly) you don't have a clue as to what you're talking about. Now we all know of it.

Llano might have a 2:11 in him.
61 not sufficient for 2:08? what is then? a 54? it doesnt exactly get much lower than 61 for the half
Why did he leave team USA MN?
