Bravo to him.
Bravo to him.
I had never heard of the guy.
Honestly my reaction is that I don't care. Good for him if it makes him feel better.
Who?
Shout out to Jonny Wilson, I know you're reading this!
Bravo, indeed.
He won't be the last. Let's hope that this doesn't even need to be discussed going forward. He's a runner and a human being - that's all that matters.
Congrats to Matt for being true to himself.
Does anyone know if he's the first openly gay US distance runner? What other US track runners if any have been openly gay during their careers?
He may be the first gay distance runner ever, male or female. I don't recall any distance runner ever saying they were gay before.
Never heard of him, but ok, good for him.
In my local running scene, there are a couple of gay/lesbian runners. It is a complete non-issue. No one thinks they are brave for being out because there is simply no issue with their acceptance in the local running community. They are not known as the gay/lesbian runner, even though some have competed at the Gay/Lesbian track championships and have organized a gay pride 5k in town. They are just runners like everyone else.
Congrats, chap. I do not think an open homosexual in the running community is that big of a deal. This community is less macho than football or basketball.
This girl I knew from a while back came out on Facebook. Nobody was surprised. Most people know if you are gay long before you decide to tell the world about it. The haters can simmer in front of Fox News at home by themselves.
Who really cares? Why would you post that link? Everything about everyone does not need to be announced. If he is gay then great. No problem but our society is truly strange when someone makes this big a deal about it. It isn't the 1990's!
Congrats! You are on Letsrun!
Do we really "know" the details of his sexual perversion or are you just fantasizing about it in your head? Closeted guys fantasize more about gay sex than gay men do. You apparently fall into this category. These thoughts must be driving you crazy.

yeah this dude is a real hero. Takes courage...or something...to tell everyone that you greatly prefer other dudes to penetrate your anus with their penis and that you seriously like sucking a dude off. Really a fine human being. What a truly great American for letting us all know the extent of his depravity and details of his sexual perversion. The guy should obviously get a medal, the key to the city, and a federal govt grant. I bet he'll soon be written of in govt school textbooks for 2nd graders to teach them how to be homo heroes just like him.
bravo indeed...
Let me also just say that if everyone everywhere felt like the majority of posters on this thread, and the stigma were vanished, people wouldn't need to publicly come out. He is hopefully doing it for the right reasons (helping others accept who they are, showing people they are not alone). It is sad that anyone cares who someone else is attracted to or sleeping with, but even sadder when the issue has to become public because bigotry, bullying and prejudice still exists.

This. These days, publicly "coming out" makes about as much sense as making a big announcement to tell the world that you prefer chocolate ice cream over vanilla.
attention whore.

I was going to delete the post, but I think I'll leave it up at least for a while. If the entire thread gets derailed I'll clean it up.
I just want to establish it's the physical act that is what you are opposed to right? I have no idea what Matt Llano has or has not done in his bedroom but I just want to get your opposition out there.
Is it OK if your wife does the same act with you?
It reminds me of the sermon at church a few months ago. My wife and I started going to the local church in our neighborhood. We really like the church. Good pastor. Turns out the church split from the mainstream Episcopalian church because the mainstream church was too tolerant on homosexuality.
The assistant pastor one day spoke. The guy doesn't like change. He turned to homosexuality and it was clear he was opposed to the physical acts that may or may not be being done. I started wondering exactly what acts he was opposed to and whether many of the heterosexual members of the congregation were engaging in such acts.
My brothers-in-law are gay (they are married). I've never asked them about their private lives and they've never asked me about mine. Yet I'm supposed to condemn them for things they may or may not be doing? What about myself should the pastor ask us to what's going on in the bedroom?
Wejo -- Why do your respond to posts like that? The poster is either successfully trolling or is an idiot. I agree you don't need to delete the post, but the majority of us who recognize the writer is trolling or stupid do the world a favor by simply ignoring him (sorry to be SO sexist, but it's obviously a him).

I've wanted to do this for years but was afraid to start a thread about it
I prefer Blue Bell Dutch Chocolate Ice Cream over any other flavor.
Although... this rotational favorite is pretty darn good.

There I've done it!!
It's like a great weight has been lifted from my shoulders.

Are you still attending that church, even after learning they're vehemently opposed to homosexuality? If so, I hardly think it's a good idea for you to advertise that on your message board.
