What's a realistic time for 48 year guy making comeback?
Former D3 runner, so some competitive background,
2:39 Boston(age 29) in 1995 and the last of my 7 marathons was a 2:44 at Disney in 2001(age 34).
Spent the next 12 year chasing after kids and work.
Got back into it last fall(daughter running HS XC). Started cold in August and by October ran 18:11 5k off of 40 mpw average August - mid October. Bumped up the mileage to 55 mpw for 3 weeks trying run a decent Thanksgiving 5k and got a stress fracture in shin. Got back running in Jan and have average 25-30 mpw at 6:50-7:15 per mile pace.
Thinking about Kiawah Island Marathon in December. With a solid schedule of 50-60mpw(aging body willing) what is a realistic time given age and 6 months to prepare. Appreciate any opinions and training tips.
