I've never posted on these boards, but I'm trying to find help on some summer cross country training. My goal is to approach low 15s for 5k (current pr is only 16:16, only off about 40 mile weeks) but I don't wan to peak to early in season because my team could probably make it to the state meet next season. I already have a good system set up of summer training in which I will peak around 70 miles a week, but I've been wondering when would be a good time to start doing tempo runs or mile repeats (or any workout that can help improve my 5k time). Like i said i want to make sure i peak late in season (october) so any advice on when a good time to start speed work would be greatly appreciated. Current PRs: 400-52; 800-1:58; 1600-4:34; As seen by my prs I'm more speed oriented but i know with an increase in mileage the 5k will be manageable.
