How does Hasay do pretty well in both the 10k and the mile yet always seems to struggle with 5ks?
assuming this is correct it seems to imply she is indeed very much like the thyroid one, best events 1500/mile + 10k, a joke at 5k

Could Jordan Hasay be the next Galen Rupp?
Needs to DNS/DNF WAY more.
Salazar calls the shots on DNS and DNFs. He wants to his athletes to win.
Hasay is the next Rupp: slow, steady progress. Hasay is a place holder until Rupp's twins reach their teens, then Salazar will have two brand new slow, steady progress runners to work with.
After Hasay has her twins (maybe in 10 years), a then old-man, Salazar will be able to keep the cycle going. At that point in time Salazar will have "coach" Rupp trained well enough to keep the Salazar mantra moving forward. Salazar will take the title of coach emeritus.

and ya know, she beat Mary Cain today, but by all means lets not talk about that
Hey, let's talk about that.
Mary Cain's best event is the 1500m / 1M, Cain ran a competent time today [solidly within 1% of her PR]* and Hasay beat Cain.
My opinion: not a great day for Cain but not a bad day either; GREAT day for Hasay.
Disagree?
* for mid-d track elites, the 5th Ave Mile, although net downhill, seems to produce times in line with track times. I'm happy to share my opinions about why that might be if anyone happens to care.
Did she avoid getting lapped today? If not, did she handle it in a classy manner?

Had missed this post until now.
So, again, dude - what up? Please list all of Rupp's DNFs / DNSs over the last, say, five years. I can think of exactly two, but maybe I'm forgetting some.
Whatever the number is, I'm just not agreeing with you that Rupp has a big DNS/DNF problem.
Mo? yes. Galen? no.
Deeper question - what exactly do you have against Rupp? [you seem to have this belief that there's a community of people claiming that Rupp is among the greatest distance runners of all time, but I've never seen any evidence to confirm that belief. I myself believe that Rupp is the best American 10000m runner of all time, no more, no less.]

Ever heard of Billy Mills: Olympic Gold!

Yes. Happy to elaborate on why I think Rupp is better if you think that's necessary.

Not needed. You could combine Mills top performances at 10k with the next 3 top 10k runners in US history and the combination of all 4 would not match that of the single man, Rupp.
Gold metal > Silver metal
Rupp fanboys are delusional.

Not all medals are equal. The sport has progressed since the old days. Rupp's accomplishments overwhelm Mills despite the 10,000 being a weak event in recent times.

This is correct.
Gold = Winner of the event
Silver = Looser of the event

Looser of the event and what?
Many of you want to continually bring Jordan down, but the fact and the reality of the situation is that she just gets getting better. Very impressive today for Ms. Hasay.

She ran very well, but she still had her same problem--getting out-sprinted at the end. She looked fantastic hanging with Simpson until what? The last 300? And then she just faded. Actually, she probably didn't fade - everyone else just got faster. Her overall race time was excellent but she demonstrated that lack of speed at the end. She has to be able to accelerate and hold it for the last 300m or so. This is why Simpson is so successful - her ending kick is incredible.

Hmmm, only Rupp fan boys believe that losing an Olympic race, by failing with sit-n-kick, is greater than winning an Olympic race in epic fashion.
Mill's Olympic Gold is >> greater >> than Rupp's losing Olympic effort.

The assertion wasn't that Rupp was the greater Olympian, just the better American 10,000 runner.

No one will ever make a movie about Rupp. Mills, yes. Prefontaine, yes. Rupp, no.
