Let me predict: Hasay will never develop enough speed to have a decent kick. She will run a good solid race until the last lap then get her doors blown off and this will never change. Girls mature earlier physically than boys. If Hasay had any speed wheels we would have seen an inkling of it by now.

No, don't put words in my mouth. I am saying what I just said: That girls reach physical maturity at an earlier age than boys do, therefore if Jordan had speed we would have seen signs of it by now. A male who doesn't show signs of speed by age 22 still has a few more years where this can develop. A girl who doesn't show sprint ability by age 22 isn't going to develop it in a few more years.

My point is that she actually HAS decent sprint speed - 57.xx for 400m is plenty of speed for a female 5000m / 10000m, so LACK OF SPRINT SPEED ISN'T THE REASON SHE'S GETTING CRUSHED AT THE END OF RACES, IT'S LACK OF STRENGTH!

Still, Rupp stood out because he was a 9th grade soccer player who did no training for running but could run 10x200 all under 30. He's a monster at speed.

Is 10x200 at 30sec supposed to be something to be excited about? I can pull in 5-10 athlete with that "speed"/"endurance" any day of the week.

She has strength. What she lacks is speed-endurance. Get it right. Some with 57 400m speed should be able to run 2:02 800m and 404 1500m and 837 3k (about 915 2 mile equivalent). She ran 935. She is a solid 10k runner, so she has the strength. What she lacks is the speed endurance.

At an elite level your lap pace should only be 4 seconds slower per 400m in each successive distance (400-800-1500-3000-5000-10000) if you have equal speed and endurance. Think of the speed endurance for mid-distance events (800-3000), and strength for distance events (5000-10000), endurance is long distance (half/full marathon).

She does the 110 mile weeks and the 20 mile long runs when appropriate, so she has the endurance. Her strongest event in terms of competition is 10k. So she has the strength. She has not great, but good enough speed, that is shown with the 57 in a workout. What she lacks is speed endurance as illustrated by her mid-distance times.

Indoor season was perfect, she worked on her mid-distance which is why she's set tons of PRs this year. Indoor she works on her weakness there, so once she gets back in distance shape she starts PRing all over the place.

If she continues to use indoor to work on mid-distance, and then outdoor to work on her strengths to see how much she's improved each year, she'll continue to improve and do just fine.

Soccer is great training for running.

She says she can run a 57 sec 400m. That's fine, but how many of those can she string together? Girl can run all day, but she cannot run fast all day.
