In the last year or so I've made more than my fair share of snarky remarks on these boards about Jordan Hasay's prospects as a pro track runner. But this quote from a recent Ken Goe article has me reconsidering:
"I can run 57 (seconds) for the quarter, which is pretty good for a 10k runner," she said. "Alberto told me at the beginning of the season that he was more excited about that 57 I ran in a workout than he was about anything else I did last summer -- making the world team or any race. It shows I have the raw speed to medal at the world level."
That's much better speed than I thought she had. Give her another few years to develop the strength to use that speed at the ends of races and you just might have something like...a female Galen Rupp.
