Flagpole, It's the latest OFFICIAL recommendations of a project that takes years to put together. That's all I was saying. And your new bible of nutrition ("wheat belly"...seriously?) was published in 2010/11, but was researched and written before that. So...is that considered old news too? Oh wait, when it is something YOU agree with it, then 2010 is "newest data!", when it is something that contradicts you, then it's "Old news." Please Flagpole, you're looking very silly.
Um, yes, research changes. So why are you so confident that the new Paleo/anti-carb/anti-wheat FAD that you so passionately now subscribe to is "the truth" ?? Because it's the latest headline coming down the pike? I am being a little more conservative in my judgement. I am not going to throw out 100 years of research because a few best sellers come out (that appeal to people's emotions) or a few flawed papers go against the grain (pun not intended). No. I look at the big picture, all sides of the debate. You are a bandwagon jumper/fad diet hopper. You need to look at your new favorite "BREAKING NUTRITION NEWS!" books and article with the same scrutiny and skepticism that you apparently apply to the mainstream, many-years-in-the-making, nutrition advice. Really, you should, but you don't.
Ok flagpole, I am trying to take a deep breath here, but you are being absolutely absurd here. Please, work with me here and consider your silliness:
* decades of research, across the globe, based on 1000's and 1000's of papers STRONGLY link CVD to high sat fat/high cholesterol intake. Then.... a few authors (some with nutrition background, many not) write a few books, or publish a few papers questioning this connection, and stating that these were really only correlations, but absolutely not causations, and you say, "yup, we were wrong all along. That's the end of THAT theory (sat fat-cholesterol-cvd hypothesis). And then, in conjunction with this occurrence..
* Some of these same authors supposedly (I'd like to read the actual research) find some "correlations" or "links" between wheat, even whole wheat, to a plethora of diseases, and this time.... you buy in 100%! No doubting *these* correlations, no skepticism, no questioning, just: "I'm in! I'm a believer!! Wheat will KILL you. Pass the triple bacon cheeseburger with a side of lard. But hold the bread. Of course hold the bread, what do you think, I'm suicidal??"
You are not being reasonable in any way, shape, or form.
