2001. The accumulated mileage from multiple bouts of marathon training led to some awesome PRs in the 5K and 10K.
freshman year of college - ran 60 to 80 miles per week and ended up at 26:00 and 4:02 and 15:30
Soph year -stayed healthy and continued in 65 to 85 mpw and ran
30:18 10K - xc and 14:40 5K (only ran once) and 3:49 1500
staying healthy with consistent mileage and reasonable quality speed sessions and boom goes the dynamite.
that 402 was a 1500 unfortunately
Started training again 6 years after graduating from college. I was working full time but my workouts were more consistent than in college. Low-mileage(20-30), more focus on speed endurance, and long run of 60 mins gave me the most consistent season of my track career. Ran 1:49(tied college PB), 2:25 PB, and split a 48 in practice. While I was not elite, it was a lot of fun mixing it up with college kids at 28 years old. Happy running.
