Dennis was absolutely on his game in winning this race! He made a slight push at a mile and a half, letting everyone know the race was gonna be run on his terms--not ours. And he negative split the second 5K, proving that he was definitely the best-conditioned runner in the field.
Congrats, Dennis!
Brian Pope made a valiant attempt to go with Dennis, but Brian's legs may have still been a little sapped from his 14:36 5K in Providence.
In any case, it was a great race for both the masters men and women (see, Sarah, I remembered you this time!!! ... by the way, great meeting you!), a great day, and, as usual, a great get-together afterwards.
Can hardly wait to do it again next year!

Antoni Niemczak tested positive 3 times for steroids (NY marathon, Polish Champs and Tokyo marathon), and never contested the findings. Eddy wont have to "give back" any earnings, the race can pay whoever they want to participate regardless of their status.
Since Niemczak didn't contest his case that makes him guilty and Eddy is innocent because he did contest? Both the cheats should be thrown out.
Not sure about the money issue. This is a USATF National Masters championship. Since it is such because of the amount of money that it gives out (in part), would it matter if they gave that money away to a suspended USATF runner? Which will be Eddy very shortly. Interesting question. I know he won't ever get the small amount that he "earned" from the Pacfic Association, but not sure about the other money.
eddy's not in the PA, thus not elegible for PA money.

My bad.
How about this little fact in the rules:
"USATF also requires that all championship prize money winners must be U.S. citizens and current members of USA Track & Field."
Pete-
When are we going to see you race in Southern California this year?
Hey Stater....
How can you say Niemzcak is a cheat when you do not know him?I guess what you are saying they better test Whitlock also..keep the lips sealed
No I don't know him, but if he failed 3 roids tests in the past, I think I know enough to be able to call him a cheat.

How many tests does a guy have to fail before you can call him a cheat? 3? 4? 5? 6?
Next Saturday at Riverside ... though they're making all us club guys run in a B race. Probably not such a bad thing, though, as I'm still struggling to recover from Hood to Coast a few weeks back, don't have much in the way of legs.
Also, will be running My Fastest 5K, the elite division, on November 7 (billed as "The Championship of LA Road Racing") in Agoura. All California guys and gals looking for a great 5K should think about entering--there's a $2500 stereo system to the men's and women's champions, as well as prizes 15 deep.
How's your season going, Kevin?
Hi SoCalYes very nice to meet you also and it really was a superb day to be out there racing.... Hats off to Dennis, I was glad for him :O) All the best in your upcoming races andthanks for remembering the chicas :O)

The performance of the day might have been Romesser. 33:25 at 53 years old is impressive.

Its going alright.... I spent the summer living and training in Boulder...it was unbelievable. The sad thing is that I hurt my arch in Mammoth, so I am just now able to run 100% without taping it. We will be at Riverside, although I am not sure which race we are in. Also, is that the Oak Park high school 5k? Its in my hometown so I was thinking about doing it.

The race beneficiary is Oak Park High School, so I have to think we're talking the same race! It's a great 5K. Five of us were under 15 last year, and I'll bet there's more than that under this year. Also, it's two loops passing on both sides of a parking center, so spectators get to see the race at 4 different points.
Oh, and you're probably in the A race. I'll cheer for you, then say hello before the B race gets going.

In regards to Eddy beating me, he should be able to kick my ass right now. I work a 45-50 hour a week stressful job and train once a day for about an hour. Compare that to training twice a day and running a 120 miles a week to the 60-70 I do, he should be miles and miles ahead of me!
Now let's get this straight - aren't you the guy who moved down to CA last summer to live with your finace'. She worked full time while you took three months off - all while she was training with hopes to qualify for another OMT. Read the article in Running Times 12/03 about Christine B. - talk about stress. Not to mention how Hinderloppet broke up with her the night before she flew out to run the Chicago Marathon.
Well that is stuff I did not need to know.
Well, as usual the trolls come out to play! Didn't know I was such a bad person! Makes me want to either......never post on Letsrun again, or...........Laugh insidously! I think I will do the laugh part.
Stress is self induced not caused by others.

He looks stressed out, big bags under his eyes, and seemed kind of short tempered (no pun intended there). Guess the stress of a positive A and B sample will do that to you.
The utter irony of Dan Nelson calling someone "short tempered" -- pun intended, Danny-boy.
Step on a stooland look in the mirror, Dan.
