Number 10 is funny.
Work associate: A girl won....she crossed before the men....the men usually win she did like a 2:12 or something.
Me:.....no she won the womans race in 2:18...the woman start before the men.
Work associate....but she still beat all the men....she was awesome are you running to represent Boston?
Me: no I run or workout everyday.
you impressed her. well done.

8. would not apply. Nobody has ever heard of Pre except for us running nerds.
Others are excellent.
1) yeah i know. never count him out!
i'm a coach
The 5 people I talked to all wanted to know about the shoes.
They were shocked that he wore Skechers.
The runners at my club don't know who won even when they are running
They do however have time to post up their own times and race reports on FB
I told a handful of people at work that an American won the Boston marathon for the first time in about 30 years. The most common reaction was, "Oh, was that today?"
You sat there and watched running on television?
what is FB? is it like LR?
Well we already saw a thread today about how many pushups he can do so we know what the xfit gang thinks.
lol woman's self esteems are low.
usually plumper middle aged women do this the most; maybe its how they cope with being ugly and old.
I told 5 people at work that Meb won the Boston Marathon, their reactions...
(other possible responses:
1) Are you gay?
2) SECURITY!!! (I told you to stop talking to me)
3) What's a "Meb" ?
4) BOSTON STRONG BABY!!!
5) How'd the Sox do?
6) Take THAT, terrorists.

Funny.
But this is part of the failure of the sport at its high organizational levels (IAAF, USATF, UKA, NCAA, etc) to connect the MASSIVE participation base with any interest in the competitive sport. More people run on a regular basis than ANY OTHER SPORT, yet most couldn't name an elite distance runner to save their lives. (Funnily, many could name a sprinter or two.)
It is a total disgrace that it is easier to catch darts or bowling (let alone football or basketball) on TV than it is running.

At some level it is comical. The Half marathon is all the rage these days. The object is to simply finish the race! Many...most of these runners don't understand that a mere 20 min 5k is a higher degree of difficulty than finishing a 1/2 in under 2 hours.
You people should really stop working.
Or finishing a regular road marathon in under six hours. Seriously - if you're going to run in a marathon, have some appreciation for the training required.
Yep. That's why it is impossible for me to believe in the fixed race theory being bounced around here.
I tried to tell my brohams at school about boston last year and they kind of just stared at me. My teacher overheard and asked me who won. I say lelisa desisa and she gave me an odd look. She asked me how long I watched and I say to da 2:35 mark. She ask me if dat da winning time. I say 2:10 and walk away.
