But he eliminated all that junk mileage! At least he would have won the women's race! It was clearly super effective!
He had eliminated gluten from his diet. Earlier he ate wheat pasta.

He should hire any LetsRun poster. 90% are faster marathoners than he is and 100% know a lot more.
And Meb ran 2:20 something at NYC. Who cares?
WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW, RYAN HALL?
I bet even a 2:57 looks impressive to you. Get real...his best years are behind him

9.8/10
I think the problem is he's uncoachable. Too much auxiliary stuff going on in his life I think (varied approached to training, adding/removing major components of training, his foundation/charity work, nomadic training schedule, religious devotion, over-emphasis on god's plan, etc.) Mahon again would be the most logical choice (and probably the best choice), but I wouldn't be surprised if Mahon wouldn't agree to coach him anymore - or if it was Mahon who decided to part ways with Hall originally. I definitely think, if I were to coach him, there'd be an agreement up-front: you stay in the same location for training, limit appearances, no charity work, and follow a consistent, determined plan for a full year at least.

I'm glad he actually finished despite blowing up. Tough day for him. His best are def behind him but I gotta believe he can still squeak out a top 8 performance sometime before he's done if he stops trying to lead the race for the first 20k. At least I hope.
i can't figure marathon guys out.
they are out a long time then come back without a good half marathon under their belt.
you need to get the 10 k under 28 minutes.
you need to get the half down to 61 anyway.
that is if you're talking about 205 marathons.
why not work your way back up, running shorter mileage and distance races then gradually move up when you've accomplished your milestones.
if you can't do the shorter distances at the minimum required time then forget about it.
as for tempo runs of 20 miles at 440 pace, i have to say, who's measuring those miles and why can't you run that pace for the half in a race after being rested.
it makes no sense at all. i suppose, however a bad day at the office would explain all however.
I'm being completely honest here: After not finishing a race for 2 years, this is at least a finish, and therefore not something for Hall to be embarrassed of. Hindsight says he may have run too hard to start, but at least he finished a race. It's a start.
If it was a mixed race Jeptoo would have had him in her line of vision.

Isn't it obvious? He eliminated a lot of volume ("junk mileage"), which made his tempo runs feel really easy so he did them too fast & long, which made him peak too early. It's pretty basic stuff. Any coach would've caught this.
Maybe the issue is that he doesn't have the talent.
Nelson munce momemet
Meb ran like 2:20 in New York and did not get a reaction like this. Now he won Boston. Ryan hasnt completed a marathon for years, and many haters said he would DNF if he is over 2:10. So he doesn't deserve this reaction, give him some credit.
Settle down and get a coach.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
