How about the random ASU guy who won the 3K indoors maybe like 5 or 6 years ago? I can't even think of his name.

The steeplechaser that transferred from Oregon? Kyle something?
Kyle Alcorn was from ASU, but Kyle Perry from BYU was a more obscure NCAA champion, in my opinion.
Yes, Juliet Bottorf. Pretty random.

What were his track times? I don't remember him outside of that one xc season. How fast was he?
So I'm not 100% sure but I ran in the same conference as him. He was like a 29:15 guy and just had a crazy good day at NCAA XC with a little help from the mud.
I'm pretty sure he made regionals by winning our conference 10k but never did anything of note at nationals. My memory is sketchy though. I remember leading the 10k at our conference meet at about 5:50 pace and wondering why the guy who was 3rd at nationals in XC was letting me pace a jog fest.
I think he had a stress fracture his junior year and that's kind of why he seemed to have come out of nowhere. He was also like 26 as a redshirt sophomore.
what yr did Kyle Perry win NC?
David McNeil outkicks Sam Chelenga (I believe)to win 5000 in 13:45. Started 600 meters out and took it hard to the finish, rat tail and all!
Jon Dennis 2x NCAA 5K champ

Yeah, Kyle Alcorn is a total nobody. All he's done since is make the Olympics.

Anyone who won more than one NCAA title can't be considered random, no matter who else was in the race that they beat. So people like Bizzarri (3x Champ) and Alcorn (2x Champ) are not random.
That white dude from Minnesota that won the 400 in the '00s
Midsanon Lloyd. 1997 200 meter champ D3. Came in as 22nd seed. Cut .7 off his seed time to win by .18. A senior that year.
