Never started. Didn't see the point.
Why is not using twitter such a popular topic here? Who cares?
Isn't it a matter of who or what you follow?
I don't follow any normal "people." Just news organizations, some thinkers/intellectuals etc. great content every day.

No, actually that isn't what 'its all over' wrote. Perhaps you should get your eyes checked. Or maybe your computer.

Its basically what I meant. Perhaps you should calm down.
I ditched FB and joined twitter. Ditched twitter once but came back. Don't use it often.
I haven't been back to FB since I left many years ago. I did the real delete that they made you search for back then. I'm not sure if you can still really delete your FB. You may only be able to suspend it. Most people that leave don't delete it properly.

Except of course for the fact that I am the world's calmest person.

???? on the "ghetto'ized". Agree it can be a waste of time if you let it (like anything).

Twitter is just a custom message board where you can filter what messages you see. The only special things about it are that so many people use it, and so many people use their real names. Same deal with facebook.
Not so long ago, that kind of thing would have been seen as a joke as well as very dangerous. Everybody once knew to never go around publicly posting their names and personal information on the internet. Somehow most of them were manipulated into forgetting that in just a few years. I don't believe this was an ordinary market event, I suspect the government found ways to make it happen. It's a government's wet dream to have everyone's dirty laundry in one big basket.
I had an active account with 500 followers and then deleted it after I realize it was a waste of time. I started using it for photography (my hobby) and I had my real name up. IT started coming up all over the place on sites that aggregate Twitter retweets, favourites, etc. Since I have a real job also I didn't want my real name coming up in searches by clients (It still came up after I deleted it...for about a year. I had to email the sites directly to get them to delete it and I was time consuming). Now I have a Twitter account but do not follow anyone except three friends who I don't see often but who don't use FB. My account is "private." I also use lists to follow running related tweets.I wouldn't use it unless my job required me to be a public "face." So many stupid young people are going to regret it when that comment they made about Justin Bieber comes up 5 years from now when they're trying to get a career started.

Also, the most annoying thing on Twitter are the hobby joggers who want attention and constantly promote the products they use (but aren't sponsored by) or try to interact with "pros" like Ryan Hall, etc.Very annoying and weird...why would you promote something if you're not being paid?Companies must be laughing.

Before Facebook, Twitter, or MySpace, there was AOL. Everyone had accounts and everyone had profiles and posted in forums, there was a member directory and IM. It was the greatest social site way ahead of its time. Except you had to pay....which is why it failed. This isn't a new thing, it just went away for awhile before coming back.
i find it saves me time - i just follow all the news sources + other websites i'm interested in (NYT, BBC, Grantland, Pitchfork, Deadspin, Flotrack, etc) and scroll through the home page tweets in the a.m. to decide on something to read while i have my coffee. content is delivered to me - easier than going from website to website and having to search out articles. it's all in how you use it.

I had an AOL account once, but I don't recall using my real name, certainly not in their forums. If they had people doing that, it's why people quit them as soon as they didn't need dial-up service. Just as people quit Compuserve as soon as they had www access.
It's all about MySpace!

False.
Anything else you have to share?
This thread is ironic.
