First off, I cant take a guy with the name "poop" seriously.
Second off, you better check your course. I am a 14:30, 30:00 flat guy, and I cannot hold a convo at 6:00 pace.
What gives you away is saying you have a half mile PR of barely under 2:20, and a 400m pr of barely under 70. That makes no sense whatsoever. You must have incredible stamina/endurance, and absolutely NO speed.
Either way, you're lying about your PR's, or your pace. Admit to one and I'll be happy.
Then don't take me seriously, that's perfectly fine :)
First, for the guy that started this thread, i would agree and say that you should probably start it a bit slower. The 5:45 third mile (5:48?) looks like you were getting a bit ambitious. Someone said the times seemed kind of sporadic (sp?), and I was just thinking that it could be explained by the hills, you said it was a hilly run...
I didn't say my half mile PR was barely under 2:20, i said it was over 2:20. It's 2:24. You're right, i have absolutely no speed. My 400 PR is just under 70 (admittedly, i've only done a couple "all-out" 400's in practice just to see how fast i could do it). My mile PR is 4:57. Therefore, my 16:30 5k (5:17 pace? 5:16?) is 20 seconds a mile slower than my mile PR. My tempo runs get down to about 20 secs per mile slower (~5:40 pace), and 6 minute pace is 20 seconds per mile slower than that -- that's a lot of breathing room for me, enough to make it comfortable. I'm a high mileage guy.
If you can't hold a conversation at 6:00 pace, i'm sorry but that's just weird. I don't believe you can run a 30:00 10k and have trouble running 6 minute pace -- that's way more than a minute per mile slower than you 10k PR!!! I'm calling bullshit on you. Maybe our definitions of "conversation" are different. But that's still really weird, you must not do very much mileage.
