I had a mushroom burger at 5 guys in suburban DC 3 years ago. Within 2 hours, I had the most severe abdominal distress of my adult life. Liquification at both ends-extreme fatique, cold sweats.
Never eating there again.

Next time you are at In-N-Out, try the double cheese burger animal style. Absolutely awesome.Animal Style: One of the most popular "secret" styles; in addition to the standard toppings, Animal Style burgers include pickles, extra spread, grilled onions, and mustard fried onto each meat patty. You can also get fries animal style. And if you like crispy fries you ask for those, as well.http://www.in-n-out.com/menu/not-so-secret-menu.aspx

Everything is fresh and they are definitely tasty.
All other fast food burgers (MacDonalds, Carl's Jrs, Burger King, Wendys, etc.) taste like cardboard.
In-N-Out burgers are juicy and the buns are soft, they're not not too dense (Doughy) like the other chains.
There is a real difference.
It's easy to knock something you've never tried.

That was probably food poisoning.
They like the Bible citations on the wrappers.
Five Guys 26% vs. In-N-Out 74%

Umm, ever heard of del taco?
Holy mackerel del taco is gross.
Five guys is so much better.
In and out's fries are tiny and don't taste all that great. They're only good animal style. Also, people only like the burgers because of the animal style stuff, which isn't all that great considering you can't even get bacon on it. Meanwhile, five guys' fries taste awesome and their dipping sauce is incredible. The double bacon cheeseburger is fifty times better than any burger from in n' out.
Still, my favorite fastish food / burger place is the Brunch Box in Portland, Oregon. Went there once while at NXN. Absolutely fantastic. Best burger I've ever had.
The cardinal sin for Five Guys burgers is how soggy the entire mess is, in an unappetizing way. The liquid is just water, grease, mushroom juice, tomato flesh. Everything's soaked. Not good. They have unlimited toppings, but if you get more than two you'll regret it because of how watery it gets.
In-n-out, on the other hand, has a moist burger, dry ingredients (including the bun, even when it's grilled), and if you get it animal style then the goopey thousand island/cheese/onion combo is actually appetizing and not greasy.
And you can't argue that Five Guys is a good value. I hate it when I go to a burger "fast casual" place and have to skip on fries and a drink to keep it under 10 bucks. That's just dumb. You can load up at In-n-Out for seven or eight bucks.
Five Guys is a crappier version of a good homemade burger. In-n-Out (like McDonald's) can't be replicated at home. That's what makes it a treat.

You don't get to vote because you're too stupid to understand that Five Guys is not a fast food burger joint

I've never had In-and-Out but this is true for 5 Guys. The fries are OK, the burgers are just way too soggy.
I am surprised no one has mentioned Waffle House. The waffles and pancakes are mouth-watery good. Just delicious topped with your choice of gravy.

This is just bizarre to me. Apparently its cool to say you like inn-n-out. There is almost no difference between them and mcdonalds or any other burger place. It's all just sh!tty fast food and it doesn't even taste that great.
Dude, there is a HUGE difference between McDonald's and In 'N' Out. None of it is good for you, but the latter tastes WAY better. Lucky for you that you don't like it, because it's not good for you at all.

None of their food is ever frozen. Meat patties made fresh, buns baked fresh, potatoes slice moments for they hit the fryer.
The only thing sorta frozen is the shakes.
Their hearts and minds are frozen in a myth.

They serve food to order in 5-10 minutes. AKA fast food. If you really can't wait 5 minutes, you can order online and pick it up. Sure they're expensive, but if you're sharing the fries (as you should be) it comes out to about $7.

What blasphemy is this? :-{{ :-{{ :-{{
Inn n out supposedly pays their workers a "living wage". It is a reason to patronize them over a McD.
But I don't live in their market, so wtf do I know.
If I feel like burgers I get take out from TGI Fridays. It's an extra 2 or 3 bucks but much better than 5 guys, in and out or other fast food places. Call it in ahead of time if you want it fast. They'll even bring it out to your car. Otherwise wait at the bar while enjoying a tasty adult beverage.
Because they've never had White Castle.
"Animal style"? Sounds like someone trained a dog to make hamburgers.
most of the women I've known really prefer an In-N-out sausage over an in-N-out burger. Just sayin'.....
