Haters, Lovers...

The deal is this. "Dillon of Macarena Fame"? Stay home...This event does not need your participation. The race director and organization, sponsors, community and the state level USATF has done alot of work to get this going. It will be a good event. No, not great, but it is something that is even possible by the increase in trail running in the USA, and the money and effort of the Mountain, Ultra, Trail subcommitee of the USATF. 5 years ago, there were no trail championships here in the USA, now we have trail marathon, 50K and 50 Mile. As well as 3 sub Ultra USATF Trail Championships; these also decide our participation in World Mountain Running Championships. It has, and will continue, to grow. Go the the USATF convention, sit in on the MUT meetings, ALL OF YOU can help decide who the bids go to. If you put on a race, submit a bid. Dillon, Think you can do better? The USATF site has who you can send your championship trail marathon bid to.

You want to know what USATF is doing with your membership dues, this is a small part of it. By the way, the money for the event is not what matters. Participation is what his sport is about in the USA. You think the 40,000 people who did Chicago this past year gave a f*** how deep the prize money went?

Bottom line, like last year, a crowd of trail runners will be enjoying a beautiful North Carolina morning in mid october, where waterfalls, singletrack and cool, clean air will be filling thier lungs while they run 26 miles. Ya, someone will also win a championship. But everybody who participates will also be winners.
