Had this happen twice. It's pretty scary the first time it happens. Makes you stop but quick.

That's good information because we now know that Gay got his drugs from a anti-aging quack and NOT his physio or any other real medical professional. Despite your attempt to paint Rubb and Al as dopers you only confirmed that they are not colluding with shady characters.
All it took was a quick dose of Vagisil to fix Rupp's issue, and that's not on the banned list as far as I know.

I've actually had my cuboid shift/rotate out of place. Quick sharp pain that felt like a stress fracture. One visit to the podiatrist and a wrap and i was 98% pain free. I didn't have any ligament damage and my doctor said he usually sees this condition in people who rapidly increased mileage, his example was boot camp or wearing the wrong shoe. I had only one run on my new shoes, although it was an eight mile run.
I've had a cuboid bone out of place, chiro adjusted and told me what it was. You can run on it but you are very prone to a stress fracture if you do. I have gotten a stress fracture from running on a jammed foot. Easy to figure out this stuff after it happens.

Limped Home and then med tent? wrote:Umm, no. GaryB never responded. There are at least two total jerks posting here, the old dude and you, both who are making an "assumption" for a person who won't post again.
Gary also stated he was in the US military, but the race was located in Ireland. So you're thinking he "limped home" across the freaking Atlantic, then saw the Irish doc? Really, don't be so literal. And he's not responding here because you insulted him with your original post, rather than simply asking a polite question to clarify whether you understood him correctly. I don't blame him for not responding.
For more uses of "limped home" meaning something other than literally "limping to one's house":

So I was in the middle of my workout today when my left foot started hurting (neuroma not cuboid) and I realized "hey, I didn't ever see how the Rupp thread was progressing!" So I come home, (the one I live in) and see this...pretty entertaining. So to answer the person who needs clarification, no I didn't limp "home", I limped to the finish line, then I went to the med tent.
Thank you for clarifying. Use finish instead of home next time.

What he did was perfectly acceptable. "Limped home"/"struggled home" etc. are all common expressions that have a contextual meaning that is clear the majority of readers.
Maybe you are arguing that people should avoid all expressions of this nature such as "tore it up", "blasted it", etc. In which case I suppose we shall agree to disagree.
Umm, GaryB, drop it and move on. You were wrong to use home.

I'd personally say "limped home" and knew what Gary was saying. Maybe it's a dialect thing.
Btw, I've popped my cuboid out of place- one awkward step on uneven grass. Suffered with it out-of-place for 2 weeks, and then one day it popped back into place- instant relief. However, it messed up my peroneals, which I then suffered with (along with hip issues, probably caused by the unstable foot) for 3 yrs. Lots of therapy, exercises, shoes, insoles, pads, tape, etc.. Lets hope there's no longterm damage for Rupp (if it indeed happened).
Limped home is acceptable.
Ummm, no...
Gentlemen, this is a classic example of "feeding the troll". And no, that does not mean giving the troll actual food to eat.
Reading comprehension - thank you, that post was hilarious.
Reading Comprehension failed to read the post he disliked properly. Reading Comprehension's skills do not include reading comprehension.
This is how it went down:
Post Made: "Can you explain why you limped home and then went to the medical tent? Medical tents are usually at the end of a race."
Reading Comprehension's Claim: "And he's not responding here because you insulted him with your original post, rather than simply asking a polite question to clarify whether you understood him correctly. I don't blame him for not responding."
Reading Comprehension made an "ass"umption.
The workout was done a couple of hours after the race:

No, the trolls who claimed to speak for GaryB are completely unacceptable. They are all very childish. GaryB is not much better. He doesn't understand the difference between composing a sentence--which he seems capable of--and choice of words.
In my opinion, Rupp didn't have cuboid symptoms. He will prove this by running without this issue in his next race.
Of the 60 posts here, what proportion are from MDs or podiatrists?
None.
As a chiropractic intern it is very likely to misalign any of the bones in the foot, most likely all distance runners have some minor misalignments due to the repetitive pounding of everyday training.
When they say "popped out" they are referring to a minor misalignment not a gross dislocation of the bone, if that happened there is no way he would be able to run for quite some time. Minor misalignments of the cuboid would definitely effect the pronation and supination of the foot though and could be pretty painful, for the sake of Rupp's health it's probably a good thing he got it adjusted as to not put abnormal stress on his foot since proper unlocking of the foot when it hits the ground is one of the most important ways our body disperses the ground reaction forces.
Why don't you "Bring It Home", get over yourself and your literal interpretation. And yes it means Finish, End, Complete or Cease with your comments.
Its a joke you call yourself an "intern" like chrio's are real "doctors", go do some "unlocking" of your brain champ and while your there have a look where pronation and supination occur in the foot and what role the cuboid plays in that. Your a disgrace to healthcare.
