So Rupp is getting the t.v. spotlight. Meanwhile Centro has pulled out. Anybody know if Matt is injured? He's been nonexistent thus far...
LRC has confirmed that Galen Rupp's mile run this weekend is replacing his world/American record attempt that was schedule for next weekend.
I'm always surprised by how little attention Centrowitz seems to get on this board. He's arguably a better championship racer than Rupp will ever be, and clearly America's #1 1500m/miler for years to come. I suspect he might be injured and NOP doesn't want to put him in a race where his lack of fitness will damage his confidence. I'm not sure if he'll be ready for Worlds
He gets less attention because he hasn't done sh*t lately. Rupp has been breaking records and getting medals. If you were on these boards during the last WC year, people wouldn't STFU about centro much like they're talking about Rupp now.
Well with Rupp racing and Centro not, Rupp should get more talk.
And Rupp has been on the scene longer and is a record chaser.
That will get more talk.
Rupp just provide more things to talk about through the year.

Given that NYRR is sponsoring Millrose, I hope this means that Mary Wittenberg is playing a little hard ball. As in, "There will be NO Nike athletes in the NYC Marathon if you don't cut this shit out."

Didn't Rupp finish 2nd in the Olympics? That's pretty good championship racing even if it never happens again.
per flotrack: One Nike Oregon Project athlete who was unable to "chase history" this indoor season was Matthew Centrowitz. The two-time World Championship 1500m medalist scratched from his indoor 1k American record attempt at Boston University on January 25th due to illness. Salazar revealed that Centrowitz had contracted a "bad viral infection that needed him to take medication." Centrowitz is currently running, but he's done for the indoor season.
so first makhloufi, now centrowitz. I guess centro finally proved that he deserves the good NOPe. They probly haven't spent enough time tinkering, he got sick, now they need to cover up.
Expect to see monstrous improvement come outdoor:

Great theory but i think it might have some holes.
One being that he is running the NEW BALANCE GRAND PRIX meet not Millrose.
The second is that you might be clinically brain dead.
I think Rupp does not want to attempt the world record as he wants to reduce the attention he is getting from the running community.
What would people say on Letsrun if he did break the indoor mile world record?
