Here is a study from awhile ago but always wondered if it relates to running as well
"Black is viewed as the color of evil and death in virtually all cultures."
With this in mind, psychologists decided to study if wearing a certain color provided subtle clues that may effect behavior.
Part 1: 25 subject who were not familiar with any football and hockey teams rated team jerseys: good/bad, timid/aggressive, nice/mean, active/passive
Part 2: Subjects: Football players and hockey players in NFL/NHL
Football teams wearing black uniforms historically have been penalized significantly more yards than their counterparts.
Hockey teams that wore black jerseys over a 16yr period incurred significantly more penalty minutes than those who did not.
There are a few more parts, but the article basically says that because of the self-perception and the background of the color black, subjects in sports tended to be more aggressive when wearing black.
Can wearing black be a performance booster? I found part one interesting because NOP has skulls and black on their Unis. Any personal thoughts or experiences in relation to this?
