Isnt it closer to 40? And 11 seconds faster in the mile. That is nothing!
And Isiah Koech is only 4 seconds faster! OMG! Call Kenya and tell him to work hard. Did Augustine Choge get any faster? Get him out of the sport.

You're obviously a troll, but also an F'tard. Too bad he hasn't dropped a whole minute and taken down the WR.

Let's put it in perspective.... a 15 min 5k to a 14:30 5k is a huge improvement, isnt it? Now put that observation into galen rupp's times. 30 seconds is hell of a lot of time to drop.
It's a lot like someone dropping their mile time from 4:30 to 4:15...it's """"only"""" 15 seconds but it takes loads of consistent mileage to get to the latter time.
I was going to start a thread but thought I'd just ask here because it goes with the topic:
When Rupp ran 13:37 in High School what did you think he'd run 10 years later for 5k?
Usain Bolt -- less than one second improvement since high school. Not much I think.

12:58 seems expected
Gebriwhet has some work to do to shave off 30s from his high school time.
What would Webb give to have run 10+ seconds faster in the mile?
A lock of his flowing hair
The OP is a little absurd, and wrong. However, he has a point in that Rupp really was the greatest coming out of HS as a 5000M runner. You would think that would be his best event. And yet as of this date Solinsky, Tegencamp, Ritz, and an over the hill Lagat, have all run faster than Rupp.
