A huge variety of plants that tend to form a roundish shape and uproot for seed dispersal.
Probably pretty much Worldwide in areas that produce suitable habitat for that type of plant.
The common tumbleweed is an invasive species (or variety of species) in North America. The one you may see commonly represented in movies, etc. is the Russian Thistle. It is thought to have arrived in a shipment of flaxseed to North Dakote in the 19th century.
