Hi, all!
I have a Half Marathon on March 2nd. I started my winter training the beginning of October and have built up from 60 to 80+ miles a week since. I've been doing 2 hill sessions a week (short on Tuesday & long on Saturday), tempo/progressive runs (Thursday), and 15 mile long run on a Sunday. I've found the last 2 weeks when I try a tempo run of more than a few miles my pace really slows down to the point that doing a 6-8 mile run is really hard work. I know with all these extra miles in my legs something has to give. I've been aiming for about 5.55 m/m pace but end up anything from 6.05-6.20 pace.
Should I drop the mileage a touch to 70-75 next month so I can nail these tempo runs and give myself more confidence? I have been enjoying the quantity over quality, running twice a day.
I'm hoping to run a 1.16 Half. My PB's for 5k is 16.26, 10k 34.26 and a 58.24 10 miler on a hilly course, all from this year.
