Totally, Mary Cain was at a HUGE disadvantage since Baxter didn't run the same race on mud (not to mention, Baxter was clearly more comfortable running in those wet, muddy conditions since she's running dry, warm cross country courses all year in California.)
Poor Mary Cain. No one else ran in those conditions but her.
