It seems to me that strides and weight-lifting do quite similar things for distance runners. Both are neuromuscular training. Both are (hopefully) training running-specific muscles, often in running-specific motions. Yet neither is exactly distance running itself, so it seems to me you get greater benefit out of including them in your training, for sure, but conserving energy for the real stuff to an extent.
Do people agree? Why or why not?
