Hall should take a lesson from Meb. We've all toed the line for countless races injured or unfit before... but Hall seems to only do it for the Olympics.
As I just pointed out on another thread, Hall doesn't race unless he is 100%. When he lines up for a race, he is in it to win it. These days, it takes 2:04 to win major Marathons, Ryan has proven that he can hang with the best and run 2:04. Meb is like a running tourist. 2:09 don't give you anything these days.

I think Hall and Meb are the two extremes and neither are good examples. Some injuries you can kind of make it through and still race hard and actually get something out of it. Sometimes it's really not worth it. I mean whatever floats his boat since he's obviously a great runner, but I don't think Hall should be following in his footsteps.
What Ryan Hall REALLY needs to do is figure out how to train consistently and well again without getting hurt. Injuries happen in this sport but if they keep happening over and over again, chances are there's something else at play.
My good friend Meb has been able to overcome his injuries by including more miles on the ElliptiGO, which is an awesome product that I endorse myself.
Maybe Ryan Hall should look into ElliptiGO's, too. It can't hurt.
Meb seems like he has more heart/grit and it seems like he isn't afraid. He appeals to more of us hobby runners because of this. Hall on the other hand...seems like we need to call him a waaa-mbulance.
Meb can't afford to forgo a payday this close to the end of his career, that's all. I don't think it has much to do with grit or whatever.

You may be onto something here. He might even have discussed this with Skechers.

I know what you mean man! Look at all those major marathon wins Ryan has piled up, Meb could sure learn a thing or two from him if he wants to win a marathon major like NYC... oh wait.

meb needs the payday especially since he doesn't have a real shoe sponsorship.
I think he only gets paid in sketchers. I'm sure his contract with them says he has to race.
You might say it is a sketchy contract...

He's (sort of) right, though. Meb's got the better resume, but Hall's probably making considerably more just from his shoe contract, let alone appearance fees. Whether that's because he's white/American born or just based on PRs, I don't know.
