Way back in 93' or 94' at Franklin Park in the old District 1 and 2 combined Men's IC4A meet a Course Marshal sent the lead pack the wrong way for about 1k. Sam Wilbur of Dartmouth was leading and ended up coming in 50th. Fortunately he and his team still qualified for NCAA Nationals. However, if not for the mistake they would have beaten Gag's Georgetown Dist. 2 team. Bryan Spoonaire of Seton Hall was in the wrong group and did not qualify for nationals. He had finished 2nd in the Big East Conf. meet a few weeks before to Luis Quintana of Villanova on the same course. The meet management still allowed him to advance to the NCAA's. That was the longest 3 min I ever spent, waiting to see if my guy from my team ran with the right or wrong group and then awaiting for the ruling from the referee. Fortunately, He ran with the right group and qualified for NCAA's.
