Im currently a junior who started off the season with 21:53 (I made a big mistake of doing nothing but long, slow runs during the summer so my speed went to nothing..) and a week ago, this is what I ran for a 3x1600m workout, 2min jog rest:

, which my coach said was 19:30 / sub 19:30 pace
But today I ran 23:23 for a 2.93 mile course (Mt.Sac at Walnut Valley, California). My stomach was sore since I had to take a dump but nonethless 23:23.... it's only 20 seconds lower than what I ran in my freshman year with no base training.
Is there something wrong with my body? I mean I'm not sure why I have decent workout results but shitty race times like this.
