The older I get the more this trend becomes reality, (like dreams at letsrun.)
I remember years ago being surprised at indoor meets in early December, then later on I was shcocked when I found some in November. (Cross country nationals had yet to be run.) Speedriver in Canada just had a track 1500m/5000m - that's right, in October. There is all kinds of excitement about a sub14 kid.
I don't really care, and I'm sure certain clubs have their reasons, but is there some harm in doing this? Are some young runners going to overdo a certain kind of thing with meets offered year round? (ie Underdo periodization.) Isn't there a great benefit to having a strict fross country season, road season, track season....with none seriously, overlapping the other?
Thoughts?
