Sobered up once. Never again.

marine corps boot camp, 13 weeks as a recruit in parris island
The hardest/worst was when my daughter was born four months early and we spent the next six months with her in the hospital. It was also the best experience.
One time my DVR didn't record an episode of "Smallville."
Years ago, for my job near Chicago, I was due to go to a training conference that had typically been hosted in California. That would've been bad enough, but for some reason they decided to host the conference in Hawaii. So I had to fly all the way out there for a week.
But don't cry for me. I'm a better man for it.

This one made me laugh out loud. Well played.
I'll say my divorce, primarily because it greatly reduced my time with my kids.

Running-wise: I would have to say it was using my only 2 personal days and spending a ton of $$$ to go to NYC for the marathon last year. Registered to do it again this year, and now I'm injured. Awesome.

Either marriage or divorce.
Marriage was soul sucking and deadening.
Divorce was extraordinarily painful and awful but good things came out of it.
Dad cleared out early, leaving me with mum. Most selfish person on the planet. Mentally ill. Lost my cat through drowning. Comes home and rages the dishes weren't done. Later that week decided we needed a 'trial separation'. Sent me to live with dad and new wife. Said it'd be for six months. Never heard from her again. Dad's new wife hated me. Living in a mobile home (lived on a farm before). Pretty unpleasant. Got into drugs, became homeless. Neded up gettig into uni etc so it worked out okay, I guess. Many parts of this tale are intentionally left blank.
Found out much later mum was shopping me around to family friends in an effort to adopt me out well before she abandoned me. Treachery, they name is... well, you know the rest. Also found out she 'met' her new husband around the time I was kicked to the curb.
Fully collapsed lung right after track season, missed two weeks before finals. Couldn't run for 3 months, came back slower than ever. Had to work back from ground zero, but eventually made it back to where I was.
Thinking for about 4-5 months that I was going to be fired.

Top's everyone.
But I was fired from a job. That I liked. That I put way too much effort into.
