Uh huh, here watch this Japanese cartoon about Fukushima :
www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sakN2hSVxAThere, sweet relief, Fukushima Nuclear Boy just passed some gas, that's all. Everything is under control.
You know, I'm sorry about the obsessive-compulsive nature of my posts. This thread is kind of embarrassing. I'll try harder to stay on my meds. Sorry.
After the announcement Harrisonburg,PA started putting together a 2024 bid.

TEPCO under-reported cesium measurements [...] After being notified of the error by the Nuclear Regulation Authority, TEPCO discovered that its previous per-liter measurements were several becquerels lower than actual figures. TEPCO says the error was due to the wrong assessment of the impact of radiation in the surrounding area. [...] Experts at the meeting criticized what they called an elementary mistake. They also said the matter should not be left to TEPCO alone and called for the Authority’s involvement.

In the eyes of industry experts and the Japanese public alike, the company has proved one thing unequivocally — that it is in far over its head in trying to handle the aftermath of the disaster. [...]
Malfunctions, bungling and cluelessness seem to be ongoing themes at Fukushima. [...]
“The day-to-day catastrophes are so serious that TEPCO never gets a chance to turn its attention to its actual plan,” says Michael Maqua at the Society for Plant and Reactor Safety (GRS), in Cologne, Germany. He too is appalled by TEPCO’s handling of the situation.

)September 22nd, 2013) ‘Extremely Malicious’: Hundreds of tons of radioactive waste found over 500 kilometers from Fukushima near Japan’s biggest lake:
unincredulous:
Go Flying makes a good point — "Dumping 300 tons was more than the work of just one person." Seems like the gubment in Japan is leaning on the "lone gunmen," or individual here. If one guy wanted to make it easier to walk on a trail, and dragged in 300 tons of wood chips; we need to find that guy, put him in charge of decommissioning the nuke plants, and cleaning up this mess, because he is a man of REAL ACTION.
Mark:
Long term it would have been better not to decontaminate as all that happens is the radiation gets spread around. With an army of independent contractors looking for quick money I'm sure a lot of contamination has been dealt with in this way. Most of Japans drinking water comes from surface water. What would have been better would have been a larger exclusion zone. But that would require more money for compensation and displace more people. Japan is a crowded island.
US population 316,710,000. US in square miles 3,717,813
Japan population 127,270,000. Japan in square miles 145,920
Russian population 143,500,000. Russia in square miles 6,601,668.
US land base is 25 times Japan but US population is only 2.5 times Japan. I threw in Russian statistics as they had Chernobyl. Lots of land to move displaced radiation fugitives. Not so much in Japan. This is part of the problem. We are so jaded in Canada and US that we expect our politicians to lie when times are good. So what do you think they do when times are bad? I've found out that life is better when you don't lie. You get down to the nitty gritty and actually deal with things. Obviously that is not how Abe rolls.
(September 23rd, 2013) Study: Contamination in Tokyo suburb 3 times higher than area just 1 mile from Fukushima Daiichi — Nuclear Scientist: Significant contamination in Tokyo, a serious problem (AUDIO):
Time Is Short:
“A recent study was prepared for Greenpeace Germany by international nuclear safety expert Dr. Helmut Hirsch. Dr. Hirsch’s assessment, based on data published by the French government’s radiation protection agency (IRSN) and the Austrian government’s Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG) found that the total amount of unstable radionuclides Iodine-131 and Caesium-137 released between March 11 and March 23 has been so high that the Fukushima crisis already equates to three INES 7 incidents.
Release of radiation from the stricken reactors has reached 10,000 teraBequerels (10,000 trillion Bequerels) per hour, measured for radioactive Iodine-131.”
http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=24292
Time Is Short:
Take the Greenpeace numbers – 10,000 terabecquerels per hour. (That's 10,000 trillion becquerels, or 10 petabecquerels per hour)
The Hiroshima bomb was 89 terabecquerels of radiation.
10,000 divided by 89 is 112.36. That's equivalent to 112.36 Hiroshima nuclear bombs worth of radiation released per hour.
The bomb took about .0001-5 minutes to release its' radiation, but it was a one time event. Fukushima is ongoing, with the radiation being divided between oceanic and atmospheric dispersion.
If anyone has a better method of calculating this, please put it up. I pray I'm wrong.
Time Is Short:
I should add:
"Note that the lethality of radioactive reactor cores goes up the first 250,000 years they are out of the reactor – not down."
http://www.veteranstoday.com/2011/05/28/fukushima-how-many-chernobyls-is-it/
So my rough numbers of Hiroshima nuclear bomb equivalents are a minimum, and will be increasing exponentially for at least 250,000 years
