The Real K5 will return with a shoulder for you all to cry on when the marker inevitably crashes yet again. The Real K5 will know he got a 60% plus return over the 4 year period he was back in the market and that he showed patience and a lack of greed by getting out in 2013 and waited to return until after the coming crash. He will not gloat.
Awesome, dude. Now THAT'S what I'm talking about!
That was not me, although I am considering buying imminently.
Apologies, the last was somebody here having some fun.
I did buy at 67.00, and aim to sell by the end of the day, but again, I can hold it for a while.
Couldja register your name?

again!
(so far)
well done
What I haven't been posting with regard to DDM is my DXD trades. Although I posted the first one I did here IIRC, I don't like to post thoughts or indications that the market will drop.
But I will say that I have done well with DXD.
Today is a funny day. I lack confidence in any general market direction today, and it may well end up down on the day. Might have to wait.
sold at 67.57
meh
That turned out OK only because it was a large block.
I'm curious, does everybody understand that everybody "in the market" "times the market"?
Only recently has the sort of action I have shown here been made practically possible. The percents realized here and there add up, a lot, especially if you are in a low short term capital gains bracket. The compounding of realized gains also turns out to be a big deal, and of course, the more times it compounds, the bigger deal it turns out to be.
I find myself thinking about what life would be like if the bulk was just in some sort of income trust or MLP at 8%
This board has become very quiet...nobody interested in the markets anymore?

I've been telling you folks since forever - without a certified crazy posting here this stuff is boring as shit.
You've been doing well. And agip does his best to keep the discussion going. But when all is said and done, this crap is just boring and only CRAZY can overcome that.

I am, but I'm too ignorant to contribute anything. So I silently lurk.
I opened an IRA last week. That was kind of exciting...
Well, I hear you. I do this stuff and make money at it, but believe it or not even I think it's boring. I suppose if you're just starting out, or if you put all your capital at risk, or if you just have a different personality than I do, it might be charged and exciting.
I personally feel that there is something wrong with anybody who actually gets off on making money this way. Somewhere in French philosophy, I think, there is a theme of money as an analogue for feces, and a fun comparison to the apes.
I believe it.
Markets up since I closed my trade. Leaving for the rest of the day, but keeping one eye open.
Markets will get exciting soon enough. At that point eyes will be wide open to the risks that most ignore. What was there in fundamentals will be viewed as a surprise or triggered by an event. All along though, valuations were there for the viewing, if only one looks.
what's wrong with you people? compounding interest doesn't get you interested? It's all I think about.
Seriously, I have always been fascinated by investing - since I was given a few shares of stock in the early 1980s.Especially quant investing. It's like there is a secret formula out there than works...
It's what I do half the day so it better be interesting.
And yes, without a loudmouth this thread is a little slow. But one usually shows up. The markets have been so dull - when there is a real correction or spike up someone will show up to pontificate.
Dude, dull? That m-f'er chemical reagent has just correctly called 9 trades!
Verified!
I wouldn't believe it if it wasn't in print. Then again, can a poster screw with the time listed for a post?
Is this how the "big trading houses" make all that money? I feel like a complete tool, a complete outsider. This guy is somehow in. I feel like he knows something that I will never know.
How long can he keep it going? I'm going to figure out what he has made on these trades, compounded, assuming he trades the same amount each time, before tax, and assuming a 15% short term cap gains rate, because that's the bracket I'm in.
VERIFIED! I don't know how many anonymous idiots there are on the web talking about how great they are, who have nothing to back it up. I can't get over the fact that it's all here, and so seemingly simple.
If that's dull to you, you can find a different drinking buddy.

You realize that compounding interest was a real factor when money markets paid 5% per year or more.
Now that most pay < .5% per year, it is meaningless

ok I was inexact - I meant compound returns, not compound interest. The US stock market is up 8.5% per year for the last 10 years - that's some serious compounding. Then wait 30 years...the numbers get staggering.
I find it stunning that there are so many non-immigrant american families without any assets - all you have to do is have an intergenerational family invest and stay invested over 80 years and they will have millions. But they don't do it.
this is true - CR is on a hot streak and has been amazing to see. bravo to him and all he does
but keep in mind these trades aren't all his money - usually people have a large buy andhold account and then play with a small amount by trading.
