As ever, I've been emmensely impressed by the Decathlete's standards in the individual disciplines they do.
GBs Dean Macey (cos i'm in the uk) has been pretty much injured for the last 4 years, and is STILL making a fantastic attack.
Most impressively, looking at his PBs, it's interestinmg to see how they compare to some of our '1 event' olympians....
100m 10.69 - not far behind they boys this year
400m 46.21 - again, and FASTER than some of our individual runners managed when they went out in the heats!
High Jump 2.15 - equalled this yesterday, and it's a height I've seen Challenger, Grant et al fail at on numerous occasions
Long Jump 7.77 - a few years ago this would prob have got him ranked #1 in UK! Rarely no jumps.
The man (and his competitors) is a machine. Trains hard, but seesm down to earth (runs with his dog even!).
Some of ours athletes have seriously under performed, but Macey shows a great attitude. I think athletes can learn off him (like how to register a jump!)
