CBC showed the whole thing live earlier today (Ok, had a 60 second commercial break.)
Couple of comments:
1. 90 second opening lap - they almost stopped to walk.
2. O'Sullivan pulled a Moorcroft circa 1984 LA final - got lapped but finished. Very classy - felt for her.
3. Very entertaining race - favorites all drop off and then the Ethopian kicks like mad. 14:45 in a championship race off a 90 second opener ain't half bad.
And hey, they showed about 6.5 laps of the 12.5....not bad, NBC.
you need to add:
4. NBC back to its usual shitty coverage of distance races....Show the pathetically slow first lap and a half, cut away to a ton of commercials, come back when the race has about 4 mins left, and have crappy commentators babbling throughout. Not to mention showing it at 1:30am. I can't believe is stayed up to watch that shit. Thanks for nothing NBC.
They show what the people want and if more people were interested then they would show it, don't blame NBC for doing what is best for them. There are a lot of popular events and a lot of unpopular events. It's just not popular enough to get more time, face the truth
Sorry, but I guess I missed the survey that NBC took when they decided to put trampo-freakin-line on prime time. The same fat-assed viewers who wanted that and the other crap "sports" must be the same people NBC and other networks survey and conclude that the world needs another "reality" show in primetime. What a sad and disgusting commentary on the collective ingnorance of the "typical" American.
