I was wondering what happened to her. I was looking for big things from her at WCs. :(
+1
Morgan Uceny finished at the 2011 world championships after a fall. She was actually hurt by the fall in London in 2012. Plus the 1500 is a lot longer than a 400. Other than all of that, you have a valid analogy.
Hurt, my azz. The only thing hurt was her feelings.
I have zero respect for her self-pitying lack of character.
I see no reason why it's any better or worse if she finished. Her goal was to run fast enough to advance to the next round. After she fell, that was impossible. Running a 400m hurdles slower than me isn't anything to be proud of.
Seems like tripping over a hurdle (fault of the athlete) may be emotionally different than getting tripped by a competitor. In the former you feel stupid and want to make up for it, while in the latter you might feel fouled and defeated.
Whats up with all these white girls falling down?
Even Lolo jones couldn't escape it, probably being half white herself.
gaber: " In the former you feel stupid and want to make up for it, while in the latter you might feel fouled and defeated."
The clear implication that if you feel fouled and defeated, you have no desire to get justice for yourself?
What a bunch of crap.
Big credit for Moline, big FAIL for Uceny.
Hopefully Moline will have her moment in the sun at some future time.

Never give up
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nifq3Ke2Q30Beat me to the punch with the Derek Redmond clip, and how about Manteo Mitchell? I dont hold anything against Uceny, have seen her run some gutsy races, but those two guys . .. And Moline gets props today too. That's who I want on my team, someone like them.
This one gets me every time!
Gosh, sprintgeezer, you really are as bad as everyone says. And thensome.
Heather Dorniden.

What a piece of shit Geezer is, Uceny suffered a back injured and missed several months of training after the Olympics.
Why the hell would some shithead old man who doesn't follow women's distance running think and post such shit?
What an aszhole.

GTFO. The point made at the time by some was that they had the absurd notion that Uceny could have gotten back in the race. This was false even of she wasn't hurt.
If she was clearly out (as she was) there is no real point in jogging around, but no harm either. Personal preference.
There is no great honor or dishonor involved here or with Uceny.
Pure crap.
You keep going, you NEVER know what will happen. Alptekin out, what if Bulut's medal is stripped, too? How the F do you know what will happen in the rest of the race?
How do you know other people won't go down in a heap, in the elbowing and shoving that goes on in the last lap of a 1500?
What a bunch of crap. Get up and run, that's what you are there for.

Has anyone ever seen Sprintgeezer and Flagpole in the same room?

El Guerrouj had more class in 1996 than Uceny, when he got up and finished the race after his nasty fall. He actually had a chance to win the race, unlike Uceny.

Wow. Though others have said it before, this is the first time that I have to agree: You're an asshole.
Uceny was badly injured and was out of training for months. (So was Mary Decker when she fell in the 1984 OG--people like to see that one as just a "lack of character," too.)
You don't have to like or respect an athlete to acknowledge the reality of injury. You just have to not be an asshole.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
