A great steeple where Kipruto just came back after the last barrier and got the win.
58.89 last lap.
The results are good for Evan Jager but bad for the sport
Good in the sense that the Kenyans aren't taking a former World and Olympic champ who was third at the Kenyan trials and just closed in 58 to win a DL event and run the fastest time ever on British soil. If he went, I just can't see Jager medalling.
It's bad for the sport though as it's a disgrace that Kipruto isn't on the team. This is a guy who might have won the gold, almost certainly would have medalled had he not been tripped at the Olympics last year.
Kipruto should be on the team over Kipsiele Koech who has been fading of late and was last the Kenyan Trials.
At a minimum, the Kenyans should have made Kipsiele Koech and Kipruto race here at sea level to see who deserves to go (Kipsiele Koech's excuse is he doesn't run well at altitude).
Dear Kenya, if you want to hire me as a consultant. I'll do it on the cheap.
