Hello, I am a sophomore in high school and I plan on running seriously this summer so I can run a sub 17 minute 5k in the fall. However I haven't been able to run due to horrible leg soreness. I am very inexperienced and looking for advice.If you have a moment to read this, would you mind offering your insight?
Here is my story: I started to feel extreme leg soreness at the beginning of all of my runs. I then took a week off because my outdoor track season had just ended and I thought my legs needed rest. On my first run back I had to stop after 1 mile due to horrible knee, feet, and leg pains. I took another week off from running but I did do some swimming. Everyday my legs felt unusually tired. When I decided to run again after a week off from running I did not feel myself and I had to stop due to leg pains. I did do a week of running but I could not run any faster then 6:50 pace for my tempo run and I normally run at 6:19 pace. I was told I am not injured. Do you think I need more rest?Thanks so much for any feedback.
