Duke currently has Rowbury, Peterson (Horowitz) and Van Buskirk running at an elite level post Duke and Sally would be there if she still were here. There only are a handful of schools that have that many alums competing at a national/international level right now. Off the top of my head, Colorado, Tennessee, Columbia, Georgetown, Villanova, Princeton and Stanford (maybe). Does Oregon? Does UNC have anyone besides Shalane and Felnagle?

Well said!! Duke may have more professionals today than most schools. And hopefully two years of great recruits will lead to a third and forth! Not a bad school to graduate from either! Add Notre Dame and Syracuse to the ACC, what a great place to run and compete!

What 4 Oregon alums are competing at an elite level? They might have a bunch of 2:37 marathoners I never have heard of but they definitely don't have a slew of fast women on the track. Here's the Olympic roster:

Yeah..except that no group of schools has ever done less with so much talent. There's something in the water at Duke, UNC, NC State, and Wake. Sadly, very few are immune.I've been trying to warn people for years!

If you're going to count Peterson, than from UNC you'd definitely count Addie Bracy. Also Alice Schmidt is still at it.

Then UNC should be on the list as well. I still am waiting for someone to chime in with all of the Duck alums who are competing at an elite level. Is there a school that has done less with more than Oregon? Talk about a place where top recruits go to forever ruin their running careers.

What does any of that have to do with going to Oregon? This thread is not entirely about womens teams. I see mention of several men and your post never made the distinction that you were only talking about women. Calm down

Did you not read the title of the thread and the nearly two pages of posts? The thread is entirely about women's teams even though a couple of posters have randomly thrown out UNC guys' names. Maybe you can provide us with some Duck women who are performing well post graduation.

Well by that logic then why are you talking about Oregon's team? Did you not read the title of this thread? I'm not that familiar with women's running (so much less where they graduated from ) but I'll let you know if I think of someone

You clearly went to Oregon given your difficulties here. No, pointing out that the Duke women actually compare very favorably to other top programs in terms of what its alums do is not analogous to going off on a completely unrelated tangent of how men's teams do post collegiately. You even admitted that you don't know much about women's running (in general) so why are you clogging this thread with your drivel?

Ok but back to strange phenomena of Duke's killer recruiting classes that yield so very little.

Of course there are going to be standouts-like Shalane that would perform ANY Place that they go. But overall Duke's reputation as a strong running program is in the toilet.

Why? Because you asked for someone to list successful Oregon runners without specifying that you were only talking about women. You really needed me to explain that to you? And what does going to Oregon have to do with having difficulties here?

Why do posters continue to bash Duke, skinny girls not performing at a lot of schools??

These posters must be jealous or worried??

I heard Duke picked up a good grad school distance runner from Northwestern.
