A friend and I are planning a road trip starting from Chicago. Don't really know what we want to do yet but I figure it'll be fun. I was thinking of taking a week long. He has a Toyota Prius which gets 50 miles a gallon. I figured we could each spend $300 to do this (gas, food, sleeping arrangements, sightseeing) but that's a big rough estimate. Less $ would be even beyter but i figure itll get pricey. He's not a running but is an outdoors guy. I think it would be cool for me to get a run in everyday in a new area or state. Hopefully some nice trails or scenic area because city running gets boring in Chicago. We are both newly finished with high school and are good friends. I think it'll just be a good time and I'm excited to explore and get some nice running in. We're not really looking to do anything crazy.
Anyways, anybody have thoughts on this? Suggestions on where we should go and what we should do? Places I should go run? I was thinking of making this 1000-1500 miles total which would be about only $80-$120 in gas. But it might take more traveling to see more places. Figuring out a route is the most important thing and I'd like to think of a good way to go so we can see some cool things each day but not be super rushed to just drive to the next state or spot. Help me plan a cool trip letsrun
