Hello all,
Im brand new to distance running and decided im gonna give it a go, but i have no idea how to structure a workout program.
So a couple of months ago I ran in a 5k on a whim. I hadnt done and sort of cardio in over a year, but I had been lifting 5-6 days a week for the past few years with powerlifting goals in mind(pretty much only squat, bench, deadlift - rarely going over 5 reps in a set).
I was gonna be happy with just finishing it, but after I got going I felt pretty good and ended up getting 22:15ish. Quads were sore for about a week after.
I thought hey maybe if i did any kind of training i could be half decent at this.
Stats: (doubt anyone cares bout any of this)
Height: 5' 8.5"
weight: 185-190
1mile: think i did like a 6:05 for a high school fit test thing?
5k: 22:15ish
Squat:355
Bench:245
Deadlift:445
SO, If someone could point me in the right direction of what I should be doing, and link some good reading material for a newb to running, would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
