I just recently got diagnosed with a 9mm OCD of the ankle. Essentially, I sprained my ankle repeatedly - several minor sprains & I didn't think much of it.
Ortho says, of course, that surgery is my only option. I say 'great, so I can run after surgery?' He says, 'no. you'll want to find other activities.' So, I say, 'if I don't get the surgery will it get worse?' He says, 'it's possible, not likely. you'll want to find other activities.
which begs the question, 'Why the F*CK would I get surgery?'
So, I do my own research, and microfracture has little to no evidence supporting it even though it's the new 'thing' with orthopedists.
I've been reading about PRP, prolotherapy (which I think might be a huge hoax) and stem-cell injections.
Anyone have any experience, thoughts on this?
Anyone have success with microfracture, PRP, or cartilage repair supplements?
