Would it be safe to get the Nike Vics for 1500-5000? I like the spikes but have never tried them in a 5000m race on the track.

Yes. you should do some of your intervals in them though to get used to them
You need matumbos.
1500m runners racing 5ks should wear the Victory. 10,000m runners racing 5k or 1500m should probably wear the Matumbo. Straight up 5k guys can play to their strength and go with whatever.
The two 5ks of my career, one was in flats and the other was in the Victory.
Absolutely. If you're strapped for cash the 'old' version of Victories are great spikes. I have done a few strides in the new victory elites and they're nice if you have the money to drop on them, if not the old models are more then fine. Great spike.
They are good for the 5000. I am a forefoot striker and found them to work well. During the race I felt really fast and up on my toes. The only down side is that my calf's were killing me for a few days afterwards. I think If I got used to running more 5ks this would be less of a problem. Try them out in a 5k. If you run workouts in them often I think you could get comfortable in them enough that they would work well in a 5000. I have seen Bekele use them for the 5000 and he seemed to run decent.
Not to many people know this but theres a difference between the Vic elites and the Vic 2's, if I were you the Vic 2's are probably the best option because they are still agressive give you the nice mid-distance feel but can also last you through distances in the 5000 range
I've used em once in a 5k time trial on the track. Love the vics, go with em.

Throwback Lanangs.
I used my victories for XC this year and they held up just fine for me, I am a forefoot striker too though.
it doesn't matter the distance, the victories are always better
