How is it that the universe can be this large:
"The region visible from Earth (the observable universe) is a sphere with a radius of about 47 billion light years"
when it is only 13.7 billion years old? And how could we see something 47 billion light years away?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universe#Size.2C_age.2C_contents.2C_structure.2C_and_lawsI don't get it.
The Universe is expanding. It has a diameter of 13 billion light years across from what we can see. but since it is that far away, we are actually looking into the past 13 billion years. We now estimate, using what we think is the rate of expansion, that the current size of the Universe is around 47 billion light years across.
The earth : a single raisin.
The universe: a bowl of raisin brand cereal
You obviously don't understand how this works if you think that. A grain of sand is tiny where as a bucket is bigger in comparison, I just don't see how you don't get this.
The earth is like a single snow flake
the universe is like a driveway full of snow
The Earth is like one person clapping
The universe is like Madison Square Garden full of spectators clapping.
The earth is like my post.
The universe is like this thread.
