I haven't been paying that much attention, can someone break the top teams down a little more instead of just giving a list. What's the race gonna come down to? Who are the key players for the top teams? How did the regionals results change things?
Team
1) Oklahoma State- Too much firepower, should have 5 in Top 50
2) Colorado- Not enough firepower to counter OSU up front, has great depth though
3) Iona- Sleeper pick, has front men but do they have a #5
4) Wisconsin- Has possibly the best 1-3 punch, needs a big time run from Finnerty and Brill
5) Stanford- Could have the best 1-5 in the meet, will they have enough low sticks though
6) Tulsa- Could have #1 in Team Score in O'Hare, needs #4 & 5 to have a near-perfect race though
7) Oklahoma- How will their milers hold up in consecutive 10ks, has senior leadership though
8) BYU- If Shields runs, watch out. Too inconsistent to put higher
9) Texas- Dohner set-up for great finish, Lutz just does not seem ready. If he is on, put them in Top 6
10) Northern Arizona- Hottest team in field, should have 3 in Top 30, need #4 and 5 to be in Top 100
Individual
1) Lawi Lalang
2) Stephen Sambu
3) Kennedy Kithuka
4) Anthony Rotich
5) Chris O'Hare
6) Henry Lelei
7) Girma Mecheso
8) Mitch Goose
9) Mo Ahmed
10) Trevor Dunbar
I am curious. Last year Ahmed was fifth. Since then he massively improved his 10,000 time (to 27:34) and ran the (Final) of the 10,000 at the Olympics. Do you see anyone else in the lineup who was in that Olympic Final? Yes, he was only 17th, right ahead of another Wisco guy, Tegenkamp. So, why would we expect him to have twice as many people ahead of him as last year? Essentially, it must be an argument that the other guys that he beat before have improved substantially more than he has... really?
